• We just got back from a wonderful two week stay at Top House . It was everything and more that we expected. It felt like home from day one and certainly a place you can switch off from everything. The food and drink that Carola and Oz left us was amazing with that and things already in the villa you will want for nothing. The pool was the best I have ever had in a villa and always was beautiful and clean thanks to Oz. We loved Hoots restaurant which is a short walk from the villa and would highly recommend it. We would love to come back some day. Thank you Carola and Oz for a super holiday.

• We stayed in Top House in March 2023 as friends of Carola and Oz in prior to the holiday season opening. Top House is a lovely two bedroomed large villa with two bathrooms. We stayed in the master bedroom overlooking the pool area in a lovely four poster bed. The room had lots of wardrobe and storage space and air con for the warmer months. There is a lounge area with plenty of seating and a dining table. The kitchen has everything you need to cook in if that's what you prefer.
  We love to spend time outside and the wrap around terrace means you can sit in the sun at various times of the day but also shade whenever you need it. there are walks into the mountains literally from the doorstop and the spring time is beautiful and green. Refurbishments this year are largely focussed around the pool terrace area that has a new stone seating area and is being planted, just beyond the pool, with olive trees.
  The house has its own parking and the village has a bistro, a Turkish cafe and a vineyard with wine bar for eating and drinking.
  This is in my top three places to stay with Ilgaz Holidays and we look forward to visiting again.

• Utter, utter bliss!
  We first stayed at Top house in 2019 - our last holiday abroad before Covid - and now back from a second stay which proved just as wonderful if not more so. As before, with all transfers and car hire pre-arranged via Carola and Oz (who are simply the best of hosts), there was the welcome pack of wine and food awaiting us, the well-appointed villa as ever homely and comfortable with all mod-cons including AC and excellent Wi-Fi, not to mention a meticulously maintained 8 metre pool awaiting our first magical dip!
  If you want to drop out and be lulled by the sound of cicadas and the scent of pine while enjoying the simple secluded pleasures of swimming and sunshine, reading and relaxing, of dining in the villa's shaded colonnade while gazing down over the tiled roofs of Ilgaz to the sea below, this is the place for you.
  The topmost part of Ilgaz, where Top house is situated, retains much of its original character and charm, with a busy Turkish cafe offering stunning views and breakfasts of enormous proportion and variety, while, set in what was the village bakery, Hoots restaurant proved a delightful place to dine, and both are highly recommended. Along the busy coastal road, supermarkets and restaurants abound while safe swimming is to be had at various municipal beaches (crowded, but friendly and fun).
  In short: utter, utter bliss! Highly recommended. 5 stars and more!

• We have had just the best and most relaxing time in Ilgaz again, who could not? It will make our 25th anniversary even more memorable, even after the covid delays! Top House is a gorgeous villa with all its space, the pool, the stunning scenery and of course the cats and dogs.
  We have enjoyed the tapas at the wine bar, the spa at the hotel, Hoots Bistro, breakfasts at the cafe and even managed to walk to Karmi.
  Carola and Oz are incredible hosts, their kindness, friendships and exceedingly high standards of accommodation are second to none! Thank you so, so much. Ilgaz is our "happy place" and we will be back for sure.

• We've had a lovely fortnight here at Top House - so well equipped as a holiday home, wonderful pristine pool (the "pool guy" was a delight to meet and came almost daily to maintain the high quality).
  This has been our first stay in Ilgaz though not first in Northern Cyprus and we have enjoyed lunches at Hoots in the village and (amazing) breakfast at the Firin Cafe; so much to eat we did not need anything else all day. Both within easy walking distance as was Gillham vineyards for a short tour and wine tasting, after which we had a very pleasant meal in the wine bar / brasserie.
  A very lazy and relaxing time. Booked again for next year. Thank you Carola and Oz for your hospitality.

• We have had a lovely week in this beautiful villa. A chair and table for every time of day around the veranda. A spotless pool and fabulous weather.
  Hoots does great food with a friendly atmosphere. We did a walk from Ozankoy to Bellapais which was enjoyable with a beer at the top! And a walk from Ilgaz to Karmi (walk 12 in the book). Lawrence Durrell's house is in Bellapais and is currently for sale! Escape has all the facilities but is very noisy. Shayna Beach is lovely and well worth a visit. Alagadi (Turtle) Beach is stunning.
  Carola and Oz were so helpful with all our little queries. We will definitely be back.

  Another amazing visit to Ilgaz. Our visit was delayed due to Covid but well worth the wait / PCR tests / form filling. Carola and Oz are such wonderful hosts. The villa (a different one from our last visit) was everything we needed after a tough 18 months. We had several visits to Hoots which has been refurbished / new owners since our last visit- thanks to Lydia and Ibrahim- we had a delicious Sunday lunch. Such a chilled, friendly atmosphere. The shortcut was a great find. The Gillham Vineyard Hotel is well worth a visit, both the wine bar and restaurant.
  We will be back again!

• Two weeks in a true paradise! I absolutely loved the solitude, quiet and natural beauty of our stay in Top House. I especially liked being right up against the mountains. Walking on those mountains was such a treat! Very nice meeting and getting to know Carola and Oz. A lovely couple. Highlights: yoga and meditation on the deck while the sounds of birds and the haunting call of the muezzin drift up to us, walking the beautiful deserted road to Karmi, hiking in the hills.

• A little bit of heaven! We stayed for ten days at the beginning of October. We are not in the first flush of youth and therefore have a fairly good experience of travelling and are reasonably hard to impress. I can honestly say that Carola is one of the kindest and most helpful owners we have met to date. Nothing was too much trouble and she really went the extra mile with the welcome pack and the provisions that were in the villa. The villa itself is in a quiet small village up in the hills with views of the coast and with the mountain behind. Simply beautiful. However you have to be prepared to drive anywhere and if you like walking definitely take the walk from Ilgaz to Karaman (Karmi) - it's spectacular. The villa was spacious and very well equipped with a lovely pool and complete seclusion. I cannot recommend it highly enough if you want seclusion, peace and quiet and a wonderful holiday. Having said that the main town of Kyrenia is only a 15 minute drive. Our thanks to Carola - we had a wonderful time.

• 5 Star Magic! Our 6 day late August stay (myself, my wife and teenage daughter) at Top house proved to be the one of our most enjoyable. relaxing and tranquil holidays to date. A real find. Situated in the mountain village of Ilgaz, Top House offers superb views down to the coast and sea, and, with mountain and trees as surrounding back drop, has the added attraction of not being overlooked. All in all, a private oasis of sunshine and tranquility. The villa itself is spacious, excellently maintained, comfortable and welcoming. Well appointed kitchen, large lounge and two bedrooms (one en suite and both with AC), Wi-Fi, lots of books and local info, TV and Bose sound system all to hand. The 8 metre swimming pool, again excellently maintained, was a delight, as were the loungers and big fluffy beach towels! The long, shaded veranda proved a great place for breakfast and long, lazy lunches or for simply gazing at the view. Carola, the owner, provided detailed info prior to our trip, a welcome pack on arrival, arranged taxi transfers from Larnaca airport and local car hire (though local taxis are reasonably cheap, a car is essential if, like ourselves, you want to explore further afield). In short, thank you Carola for being such a perfect host.

• The villa was lovely to stay in and had a great look to it. We were very happy with the pool and the lounge spots were placed perfectly. Beds were very comfortable and enjoyable to sleep in and waking up was so peaceful, as it was all day round. Sunsets were amazing to watch while eating and Carola and Oz were outstanding hosts. • Great villa, great location, lovely hosts! Lovely clean and spacious villa with great pool and terrace. Sun all day long but with shady spots to retreat to and a lovely spot on the terrace for eating and drinking while watching the sun set over the valley. Lovely comfortable beds and great facilities all round. We were within walking distance of the village "eateries" ranging from good to gourmet. The pool is really well positioned, a great size, really well maintained and not overlooked. Lots of wee "extras" that made the stay even better - poolside / beach towels, yoga mat, mosquito repellents (spray and plug-in). Local supermarkets just a short drive down from the village and same road to head out on day trips pretty much anywhere. We had a few trips out covering most of Northern Cyprus. Would highly recommend. Carola and Oz are lovely hosts - even organising our transfers from Larnaca and our car hire. Transfer each way was seamless and comfortable.

• The true essence of the Top House all begins with its wonderful owners Carola and Oz and this starts well before you even arrive at the villa. Carola is very generous with her time giving invaluable advice and assistance, all to make sure your arrival is a smooth one.
  We travelled from Ireland and even though we arrived late in the evening and were very tired, a warm welcome awaited us and we were made comfortable and felt at home straight away. Carola and Oz are two lovely, lovely people. They work very hard to provide an excellent service making sure you have a stress free and pleasant stay. They are fantastic ambassadors for tourism in TRNC promoting local and regional services and amenities.
  The quirky and very picturesque village of Ilgaz and the villa is set high up in the hills so a car is highly recommended. This can easily be arranged with the help of Carola with Sevener, a local car hire. The most hassle free interaction we have ever had when dealing with a car hire company.
  The Top House itself is a beautiful looking house with admirable craftsmanship in the stone and wood work throughout. For a two bedroom property it is very spacious, both inside and outside. Inside all of the rooms are large and airy and are tastefully decorated. There is endless storage which is helpful for hiding away any traces of luggage making you feel more at home. The bedrooms are lovely and big with comfortable beds. The kitchen is large and fully equipped and you would need for nothing when staying at the villa including perfectly uninterrupted wifi which is essential for keeping a teenager happy.
  Outside the villa is in a private setting surrounded by a huge variety of foliage, anything from shrubs, plants, flowers to almond and fruit trees, a nature lovers delight. A veranda wraps around the house, it's decorated with a variety of tables and chairs on three sides for you to take full advantage of the spectacular views on offer. The side view sweeps down the mountain and rests on the glistening coastline and out to a navy blue sea. The back of the villa offers a large and refreshing swimming pool, perfectly maintained by Oz. It is surrounded by loungers and a cosy canopy seating area. From here the impressive view is of the towering summit of the mountain. Because of the villas elevated position there was no sweltering discomfort from the heat even though the temperatures hit 38 degrees at times. The front of the villa faces two hills, the nearest is covered with woodland which takes on different characteristics as the day goes by and the second has hiking trails leading off into the distance. From this spot the breath-taking sunset stops you in your tracks and commands you to witness its beauty, which you could never become tired of. And it doesn't stop there. Once night falls you are transported into becoming a star gazer with the vastness of the black night sky packed with millions of stars.
  You could easily fill the large fridge and happily not leave the villa for the duration of your stay but we decided to eat out each evening. This was the only time we faced a dilemma, once we reached the coast road we had to decide whether to turn left or right. In either direction there is a multitude of restaurants to choose from. Three great places had us return several times. Words and feelings that come to mind from our experience at Top House would be Mindfullness, relishing every moment in time. Wellbeing as we had a great sense of being carefree an very content with life.
  We highly enjoyed meeting Carola and Oz. We missed the villa the moment we left and very much hope to return again and again. Even if it was for a moment to hear the glorious sound of the goat bell hanging on the front gate.
  TRNC is definitely a hidden gem in the Mediterranean and Top House Villa is its diamond.

• Beautiful mountain oasis of calm. A short visit to an amazing property. The house is set in the mountains of Ilgaz and has lovely traditional interiors and the most amazing outside space. Gorgeous terraces for sun or shade and mountain views. All on one level the villa has a great kitchen in traditional wood style and loads of space. The master bedroom was my favourite room with doors onto the pool and terrace area. A canopy over the four poster bed added to the loveliness of this room. Tons of wardrobe space for clothes etc. We have stayed in a few of Carola and Oz's properties and over ten years they have become good friends. They are always helpful when we stay and this property like all of theirs is well maintained and lovely and clean. The villa is literally on the mountain side with amazing walks on your doorstep. The newly opened winery in the village was the reason for our visit and that is a great place to enjoy a glass or two. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property and have told loads of friends about the villas. We can't wait to go back for a longer stay.

• Classic style villa in stunning peaceful surroundings. From beginning to end we enjoyed a fabulous experience. The extremely helpful owners, Oz and Carola, assisted us with transfers, car hire and valuable local knowledge. On arrival there was a welcome pack which included wine and various food items which was gratefully received. The villa was larger than expected and spotlessly clean with a lovely pool and bespoke outside seating. The local people were very welcoming and fresh bread from the local cafe, only two minutes walk from the villa, is not to be missed! Overall our holiday to Ilgaz exceeded our expectations in every way and we look forward to returning as soon as possible.
